Autonomous Development – What Actually Works Today (Archived Draft)

This is not a roadmap. This is live, shipped code (November 2025).

You can turn a natural-language goal into fully constitutional, tested, audited code with one command:

This section originally contained console logs from early versions of the crate pipeline. These logs are outdated and not relevant to the modern A1/A2 system.


Early Architectural Observations (Archived)

The following points summarize realities observed during prototyping:

  • Agents are capable of generating production-ready code when context is sufficiently constrained.
  • Constitutional checks are mandatory before integrating any autonomous code.
  • The crate system must fully isolate agent output.
  • Validation (Black, Ruff, Syntax, Tests) must run before governance audits.
  • Background autonomy (daemon mode) was unstable and later removed.
  • Deterministic context is critical for reproducible agent behavior.

These points influenced early versions of the Mind–Body–Will architecture.


Notes From Experiments (Archived)

These represent early findings during experimentation in 2024–2025:

  • Multi-agent planning improved quality but introduced nondeterminism.
  • Limiting agent access to strictly curated context dramatically reduced errors.
  • Canary audits prevented unsafe merges even in early prototypes.
  • Drift between crate and repo state caused instability until crate isolation was introduced.
  • The system could generate full implementations but required stricter governance.

Many of these observations directly led to:

  • the development of .intent/ governance,
  • the modern validation pipeline,
  • the separation between planning, execution, and review agents.

Deprecated Concepts (Preserved for Transparency)

The following items existed in early versions but are no longer part of CORE:

  • core-admin daemon … commands
  • background autonomous workers
  • auto-integration of crates
  • early manifest formats
  • ungoverned planning workflows
  • direct LLM writes to repository
  • uncoupled test generators

These remain here only as historical artifacts.


Summary (Archive)

This document reflects an early proof-of-concept stage of CORE. It demonstrates the moment when autonomous development first became real — before governance, restructuring, and the mature A1 pipeline.

Modern CORE uses:

  • governed agents,
  • explicit CLI workflows,
  • strict constitutional audits,
  • no background daemons,
  • a unified crate pipeline,
  • and a fully formalized Mind–Body–Will architecture.
